A Matter of Choice

With Facebook celebrating it's 10th anniversary this week and the floods of 'Lookback videos' doing the rounds I can't believe I didn't think of it for my Flashback Friday! Jenny did though and as soon as I saw the title of her blog post I knew I HAD to do the same! I joined Facebook in 2007, the year it seems it became popular according to most of the videos I've watched. I had no idea what it was but I was invited by a friend of mine who I was friends with on Myspace.   (I'd used Myspace for a while and liked it but now I'm now really sure what I used it for!) I remember my first two facebook friends and loved reading their profile and witty status updates. It's no secret that I love facebook, I have more contact with some people now than I actually did before leaving the country, although is it debatable how close that contact is, it is very easy to 'like' someone's status or leave a quick comment on a photo but are you really connecting with that person?  I'm not sure if at times it reduces the likelihood of a 'real life contact of a meeting in person or even a phone call. I get birthday wishes from people who I haven't seen for 10 or 20 years and you know it's not because the date is etched into their mind - it's the oh so handy reminder they get when they log on to facebook on that day, but it's people that I would not have been in contact with before facebook. As I've said before, I love Facebook  and when I saw this post over at Alexander Resisdence  I HAD to join in. There is a facebook application doing the rounds at the moment called 'My Year in Status' which makes a collage of your statuses for the year.  It's very strange to look back over a years events as reported on Facebook, so many little things that I had now forgotten.  It's been an odd year and I really enjoyed looking back at it in this way. After doing that I found a status statistics application , I liked it as it reminded me I recently got back into my skinny jeans (although they seem to have shrunk again a little bit!) My name is Emma and I am a facebook addict.... and I do not care! Is that a bad thing? Why, I wonder do I always feel the need to under exaggerate how often I go on FB? ok, I'm sure you are wondering now.... honestly I would say on an average day maybe 10 times.
