When you grow up

Image
Whilst going through some old blog posts I came across this little gem from 2011,  it was part of a 'Blog meme' where lots of bloggers would tag their blogging buddies and everyone would join in and write a post on a certain theme. It was part of a longer post which is not relevant now so I thought I'd update it .  Back in 2011 I asked Leo what he would like to be when he grows up at several different times in the hope I would eventually get an answer that made some sort of sense. (Don't forget he was not yet two years old!)  Replies included table,  bebums (raisins), look Mummy dirty feet,  a circle.  Eventually I got the crayons and paper out to immense excitement from him as it is possibly his favourite activity and asked him to draw what he would like to be.... "is kerkles an lines mummy" I also rephrased the question and asked him what he wanted to be when he was bigger..... He replied (with arms waving above his head...

The Five Year Meme - Update

Image
I was browsing through some old blog posts this evening in an attempt to find some good 'uns to share over on facebook in the absence of me actually having the chance to write some new stuff, and I came across a post from July 2010 called 'The Five Year Meme'.  In it I answered a few questions about what my life was like and where I wanted to be in five years time so I thought it would be a good time to update it (albeit a year late!) Us five years ago.  Where were you five years ago? Five years ago I had lived in Cyprus for less than a year, I had a 14 month old baby,  and knew very few people in Cyprus. We were living in the same apartment as we are now, but had no plans to have a second baby.  Aaron was working 6 days a week in Limassol for a Kitchen company, with one and a half days of a week, early mornings and late nights. I was happy but not yet settled, I loved Cyprus but hadn't found my feet and I was desperately looking forward to a 3 week trip...

Questions and answers

One thing I love about reading other blogs and being part of the 'blog world' is the that just when you are wondering what to blog about someone handily hands you a blog post on a plate, as Multiple Mummy had tagged me in 'Questions and Answers' She has written 11 questions for me to answer and then challenged me to do the same for others.  1. Apart from your children what is your greatest accomplishment? Oh, I hate this question!  I guess moving to a new country and making a new circle of friends and feeling like I am at home is quite an accomplishment. 2. What is your favourite beverage? Cocktails, containing any or all the the following...... mailbu, vodka, barcadi, fruit juice, grenadine.   Or right now Mcdonalds Milkshakes! 3. Why do you blog? Because I love it! I didn't imagine I'd still be going over 2 years on when I first started and I certainly didn't think it would be so rewarding, enjoyable.... and addictive, maybe the rea...

10 Questions

There is another meme doing the rounds at the moment and I've tagged by Jenny from Mummy Mishaps . 1. Describe yourself in seven words. Enthusiastic, loyal, inpatient, persistent, talkative, frustrated, sociable.  2. What keeps you awake at night? Not much, usually I sleep very well but these days it's not so much Leo waking up rather the thought that he is about to wake up! I can lie in bed for ages thinking he's probably going to wake up any second, sometimes he does, sometimes it an be an hour or two later but I still do it! 3. If  you could be anyone for a day who would you be and why? I think I'd be Leo, it would be fascinating to see the world through his eyes and be able to have the best time ever by playing with a box or jumping on some squares. It would be interesting to better understand how annoying it must be to be 2 years old and to see things from his point of view. 4. What are you wearing now? Pyjama's, big fluffy dressing gown and slipper boots...

Music therapy

Image
Once upon a time I listened to music a lot, in the car, at home and even if I had the TV on it would usually be on a music channel during the day. Nowadays due to the protests of a certain little man it's usually restricted to in the car, and even then it has to be 'not big loud Mummy' On the rare occasions I end up indoors on my own, the first thing I do is to turn my ipod on and listen to my favourites. I miss my music and wish I'd not stopped listening to it so Leo was in the habit of hearing it and might not moan about it so much. Music can do so much for your mood and there are so many songs that really mean something, it drives Aaron mad that I have a story for nearly every song in my collection! I've been tagged by Real Housewife Lauren  to take part in   Mammywoo's Music Therapy  which is all about reminding ourselves how much we love our music and sharing the songs which really mean something to us, those whose lyrics could have been written just f...

Five Question Friday

Image
I found this Friday follow meme from  My Little Life  and thought I'd join them. You answer the 5 questions then link up so here goes.... 1.What do you do when you have time to yourself? I would say read, as I love reading but in reality I'm more likely to be on the internet, blogging or nosing around on Facebook.  Also as often as I get the chance I'm likely to be sleeping, whether it's an early night or a sneaky nap with Leo - I don't like the fact I want to sleep so much, there is better things I could be doing but hopefully one day I'll be able to do my sleeping all night again without getting up so much! 2.When you look out of your kitchen window what do you see? Technically I don't have a kitchen window, but we do have triple patio doors from our kitchen/living room and from these you can see fields running pretty much to the sea along with the hotels in the abandoned town of Varosha,,I've blogged about it before  here . 3.Who / Wha...

The Five Year Meme

Image
I've seen this meme on a lot of blogs recently and thought I'd give it a go..... Where were you five years ago? A long way from here, in more ways than one! We were living in our first house brought together in Walderslade, Kent having been married for almost one year. I was working in a dull but bearable office job and we were just kind of bumbling along, no immediate plans for a baby or to move house, and certainly no idea that we would EVER move abroad! It seems like a lifetime ago. Where do you want  to be in five years time? Still in Cyprus, and still in this area but possibly in a different property, although I love this apartment and I would desperately miss our lovely view I feel it will be too small as Leo grows up. We have no plans to have another but "never say never" and if we did it would definitely be too small. AJ would love to have a villa built but  I cannot see that happening within 5 years! What I woul...

Hanging my head in shame.

Ok, I'm going public... I have a love of really bad music, not just a bit rubbish but really bad. I even know the songs are bad and in the rare event someone agrees with me and says it's good I have to disagree with them an point out that it is actually terrible but for some reason I  still like it. AJ says I have a bad music gene in me! So imagine my delight on seeing this post by Emily O over at Babyrambles I like three of her five, and I'd never heard of one! (to see her five click here Five songs I shouldn't like but do) So I thought I'd share with the world some of the songs I hate to love, what's quite depressing is the fact that I've been thinking about this for a couple of days - there's a lot of terrible music to choose from don'tcha know. In no particular order Buck Fizz, Making your Mind Up I remember dancing around my front room to this at the time, I was only four though so it was cute rather than worrying, whenever I hea...

What's in your bag?

I feel have have officially joined the blogging world by being tagged  in my first  meme ,  What's In Your Bag?   So, thanks to  rock and roll mummy  I now feel like a propper blogger!    Before we delve in, I just feel the need to explain the bag.... while pregnant I realised that I rarely carried a bag so could justify having a posh changing bag as it would be also my handbag for quite a while. Although realised that if I had a pink changing bag or suchlike it would lessen the likelihood of AJ taking said bag to change litte'un. I brought a lovely changing bag with matching bottle bag  which I used for all of a week before I realised how annoying it was with straps that wouldn't stay on your shoulder or go over the buggy, as a temporary measure I started using the free boots bag that everyone gets with the nappies.... 1 year on and guess what? Yep still using the freebie bag, although being out here I've ...
