Why don't you? (turn off the tv and do something less boring instead)

Why don't you turn off that tv and do something less boring instead? Do you remember that program?  I may just be showing my age. but I always used to watch it in the school holidays, obviously not taking the advice from the opening credits!  (I assume they meant turn off the TV AFTER the program had finished! )  Back in the days pre-children I swore blind that they wouldn't sit in front of the television all day, it would be on for a small amount of time each day for fun but educational programs which we would watch together and talk about to see what we had learnt...... yes I know I was somewhat deluded and had no idea what would inevitably happen.  (I also thought I would only feed them nutritious and healthy home cooked meals and very strictly ration sweets, crisps and junk food but that's a whole other blog post!)  Between birth and about 6 months Leo had never watched a program, although I was quite a fan of inane daytime tv when he was tiny, ...

Cbeebies The Album - review and giveaway

Like many of our friends here in Cyprus we don't have English tv channels, although they are available we went for the popular (by popular I of course mean cheaper!) option of 'Nilesat' TV which is Arabic with English / American channels showing. I don't watch a lot of TV (well I don't now, because it's rubbish!)  so it doesn't really bother me but it does mean we don't get the Holy Grail of preschool childrens TV - Cbeebies! Leo was initially confused when I put it on and looked at the TV, it all went very well until we got to his favourite - Mike The K...

This week Kate asks us what out top five annoying kids programmes are, I've been reading through everyone else's lists and feeling quite grateful that we don't get most of those programmes shown on our channels, that's one benefit of our rubbish selection I suppose! Although the small selection does mean that the programmes get repeated A LOT, and by that I mean sometimes twice an hour on the BBC Entertainment Cbeebies, let me tell you that can make even the best shows   annoying.  1. Me Too - this is the most annoying programme by far. What the hell is the point of this crap! Sorry going into a bit of a rant now but this programme actually pains me to watch. It's not been on for a while and the songs will not leave my head. It is truly the worst thing I have ever seen. 2. Balamory - I've noticed this on a few peoples lists, I can only assume they haven't seen 'Me Too' as that makes Balamory look good. But that's not to say it is, and they co...
