Oranges and Lemons

Image
Another one of those catch up / flashback posts from me today,  it's a bit random but another one where I started the draft months ago but only put the images into it. Oranges and Lemons - no, not the song / game you probably know from childhood but the slightly random game I accidentally created one day in the park which is still going over two years later. As reluctantly played 'just one more round PLEASE' I thought to myself that it was actually quite a nice / easy / cheap way to keep the boys happy,  and it wouldn't be long before we'd never be doing stuff like this anymore - so I should blog about it before I forget all about it.  This is our local park,  It's a great park,  I'd say the best in the whole area,  it's certainly the biggest and has lots of paths to explore,  birds to see, examples of old water mills, a large bit of grass to play ball or run about on, and now a lovely cafe so you can grab a beer or a coffee while y...

Exploring Deryneia Park

Image
Just over the road from us is a large park,  for Cyprus it is a very good park although I was quite surprised to see it described on one website  as a 'theme park'! It has a small playground, and what is described on the website as a 'Birds Exhibition'  - although it's more of a cage which is far too small for the birds inside. There are also several displays of traditional water pumping devices.  It's a shame that there is no information on them (not even in Greek) as they look quite interesting but I have no idea how most would work. ` There are many twisty paths and different little areas to explore and Leo loves running around there. Although the playground isn't huge there is a climbing thing with a slide which Leo declared was a fire station and them spent a long time asking me where there was 'truffle' (trouble) and who needed rescuing so he could 'whoosh' down the slide to the rescue.  We last went a couple of weeks ago, ...

The Gallery - Action

Image
This weeks Gallery prompt is Action ,  and what else could I use but a photo of a very energetic toddler! This was taken a couple of weeks ago in our local park, it's not the best park in the world but it's a very good one for Cyprus! It has a small playground - a slide that Leo cannot climb up on his own, a couple of rocking toys and a see-saw,  a cage with some birds in it (not very good conditions for the birds but Leo like to have a look at it each time as he doesn't realise this!)  and several paths and sections which are great fun for a toddler to explore. The park is only a few minutes walk from our apartment which is nice and we've often met up with other Mums and kids for a picnic there.  It's nice for him to have a place to run around in, and the novelty of grass to play on which none of our friends have in their gardens!

A walk in the park

Throughout the summer I had been talking of my plan to get out and explore Cyprus a little bit more, although I was waiting for the temperatures to drop a little so we could enjoy the exploring without getting heatstroke! I've been without a car for a while so this didn't help, but I do need to leave the house at some point each day for the sake of my sanity. We have a park which you can see from our balcony, very handy indeed! Monument in the park, although I'm yet to find out exactly what it's for. We sometimes meet a few other  Mums and kids there but Leo and I often just pop over for half an hour just before cabin fever sets in. It's a great park for Leo, he loves to explore and run away from me, and there are lots of little pathways and different sections for him to tire himself out in  to do this. There is also an aviary which he likes to look at. (not a particularly bird friendly one but Leo likes it!)  Deep in thought! He has just discov...
