Climb Every Mountain!
February in Cyprus can be an unpredictable month, it can give us some of the coldest days of the winter but also show us signs of spring and remind us what the weather is supposed to be like here.
We've had lots of rain this winter, I'm sure more than in recent years. This is good, we need it and apparently the reservoirs are looking good for the year ahead. I haven't minded the rain too much (apart from the time our ceiling leaked) and it's quite a novelty to snuggle up inside while it lashes down outside. But I know it comes to an end and it's lovely to get our bright blue skies back.
This weekend the boys and I went for a walk, well, I walked they scooted and we all played Pokemon Go along the beach path in Protaras. It was lovely, I was wearing a t-shirt and fleece, the first time I've not had layers covered with a jumper, and I even took my jacket off for a while (!) but I was still surprised to see people in bikinis sunbathing, not many admittedly but we passed more than I expected. A few crazy people were even swimming!
As the resort starts to gear up for the season, renovations are underway, upgrades and repairs are going on all over the place. The diggers were down on the beach and we timed it well as they had left huge mountains of sand.
There is only one thing to be done when you come across a massive sand mountain...
Last time we found the sand mountains on the beach I joined the boys climbing up them but my knee was hurting today and I thought that would probably finish me off, instead I enjoyed sitting in the sun whilst they climbed, jumped and ran up and down them.
Unlike last time it was easy enough to get off the beach, no-one had to be carried, changed or dried, in fact I didn't even have to brush sand off anyone or put socks and shoes on, I asked them to do it and they just did, I'm loving being out of the toddler days!
Who needs snow!
It's almost hot here too. Watch out for rain on Wednesday and Thursday though. I'm not sure if it gets to you first or to us. (I wonder why we make snowmen and sand castles but never sandmen or snow castles?)
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good point! I kinda want to go and make a sandman now though. Not today though as your weather prediction was spot on, it's pouring down today.
