The not so strange Christmas week

Here we are in what is usually the strange week of the year between Christmas and New Year, when you you're not quite sure what day it is, and you feel vaguely guilty about sitting around doing nothing, feeling like you should probably be eating more healthily, drinking less and getting outside more.

2020 may not have given us much but it's made me feel a lot less bothered by this week!

I love Christmas and the whole run up but every year around this time I feel a little uncomfortable,  happy but also like I *should* be doing something - getting outside for a lovely winter walk,  especially when people are doing in through snow and frost and we usually have gorgeous blue skies over Christmas (the rain comes in the next couple of months)

But this year I am not being lazy, I'm just being sensible by staying home!

I've made peace with over eating and drinking,  assuming we are about to enter into another full lockdown we can reacquaint ourselves with Joe Wicks and take a daily walk then.

(random comment from Leo - he enjoyed going for walks in lockdown, when I pointed out we can walk whenever we like now without having to text for permission he replied but that's not as much fun then)

Of course as with almost everything I say, I'm exaggerating but I do feel less confused by this week than I usually do and even though I could have stayed indoors 'guilt free' we had a lovely afternoon walk in Agia Napa today.

Encouraged by the tiny thought in my mind that we may end up in full lockdown again next month, and be restricted to walking around our own apartment block we drove to the sea.   The boys needed a little encouragement to get off the sofa and off their tablets, by that I mean I told them it wasn't optional, but as predicted they really enjoyed the break.   The fact we played Pokemon Go all around Ayia Napa harbour might have also had something to do with it.

I've always been happy being by the sea, and 10 years on still amazed we live here but these days I do appreciate it just a little bit more.
